4worldlovers: Chef Nimidu Senaratne – the proud Founder & CEO of Spicy Zest Restaurants. Nimidu’s career kicked off right after he earned a diploma in Hotel Management from Swiss Lanka Hotel School and worked at The Beach Hotel in Negambo, Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, he was able to complete his Advanced Diploma in Food & Beverages, conducted by the City & Guilds Institute in the UK. All of these were bolstered by the experience he gathered working in the hotel and restaurant industry at Sentosa Island in Singapore while studying for the Advanced Diploma in Hotel Management at Bristol Business School.


Nimidu is a first-generation immigrant from Sri Lanka that came to the United States with hopes to live the American Dream just like many others. When he arrived in the United States, Nimidu already had a solid education and necessary experience in the hotel and restaurant industry. Despite many hardships, he was able to successfully complete his degree in food and restaurant management in the United States. After that, he worked for many highly recognized and upscale hotels and resorts such as The Hilton and The Marriot Corporations.

It was in the year 2013 when Nimidu and his lovely wife, Chamari Senaratne finally decided to build an empire – Spicy Zest. Today, Spicy Zest has grown to become one of the most loved authentic South Asian restaurants in this Great State of Texas. As Spicy Zest nears a decade of its greatness, Nimidu has become even more determined to give back to his community and push the boundaries of success even further.

Sri Lankan food is here in the metroplex. The food is very delicious. Its similiar to South Indian cuisine, slightly spicier then North Indian, but not too much. They have less spicy dishes too. This buffet had so much variety of items, from chinese rice, lamb biryani, noodles, dosas, pork, beef, chicken, coconut shrimp, veg dishes, and even pastries. Deserts are uniquely delicious. Also there is a Dosa station where chef makes the dosa to your liking. The service was stood out, very friendly servers and hosts to wait on you. Also enjoy hot tea or coffee with desert. All of these come with buffet. Definately recommend this place. Enjoy the nice Sri Lankan hospitality.

One of the best food and and hospitality, if u like appam this is the must try place , the best I have had here, and hospitality like back home.. with reasonable price for buffet , with margarita and karaoke on Friday night and Mimosas on Saturdays and Sunday brunch. They have order to cook options as well. Get to talk with the owner and he was really nice and mentioned they just like how we make at our home, with no artificial flavor or msg..

This is one of the best restaurants in Dallas-Fort Worth area. I have been to their Farmers Branch location dozens of times now. Have taken many of my friends and family to this place and all of them really liked it. They have a nice mix of authentic Sri Lankan dishes along with some nice fusion recipes. I would highly recommend their Lumprais. The aroma, the taste, and the texture, everything is top notch. I also like the cleanliness and hygiene of this restaurant. The staff is also very friendly, particularly the lead chef Nimidu Senaratne. This restaurant should be on your must visit list when you are in DFW area

If you are looking for authentic Sri Lankan cuisine made by the loveliest Sri Lankan people, then this is the place for you. The food and service is *superb*. Before moving to Denver, my family would go here every Saturday/Sunday afternoon for the lunch buffet.
