While as an undergraduate at the Baptist College of Florida, Rob was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He was told he had a thirty percent chance of survival. Rob underwent chemotherapy and eventually a bone marrow transplant, which his brother so graciously donated. Faith, family and friends are also what he attributes to his ability to suffer well and survive.
