The City of Dallas Park and Recreation Department is proud to operate a state-of-the-art indoor swimming pool on the shores of Bachman Lake. Renovated in 2008, Bachman Indoor Pool is open to the public and offers a wide variety of classes and fitness programs for people of all abilities from children to seniors.

Bachman Pool features five 25-meter lanes, spa, locker rooms with individual showers and changing areas, a family restroom, an ADA entrance ramp and lifts and UV sanitation that offers swimmers state of the art protection from recreational waterborne illnesses and a slip resistant, cushioned deck and locker room flooring.

The Holmes Aquatic Center is located at 3501 Lovers Lane within Curtis Park. The complex offers a 50-meter pool, a giant water slide, 3-and 1-meter diving boards, and a walk-in ramp to aid handicapped accessibility. A separate pool, with an aerated fountain and shaded area, is available for younger children.

The complex is open from late May through Labor Day. The facility is available for University Park residents and those who reside in the Highland Park Independent School District only. We offer a progressive swim lesson program with hands on instructors and the ability for swimmers to learn at their own pace in peer groups. Lessons are priced to be affordable for our community as we believe water safety and learning to swim are skills everyone should learn! Our group lessons will be offered at each neighborhood pool and are broken out by age group:

We also offer private lessons with one instructor with one swimmer, or one instructor with two swimmers. Private lessons allow for more personalized attention and faster progress of skills. This is an excellent option for anyone who has no swimming experience, a fear of the water or would like to improve upon their existing skills.

The Cottonwood Swim Team meets from 10:30-11:30 a.m. (Blue Team) and 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. (Green Team).

Swim teams are important to our community! We offer five local teams at three of our neighborhood pools. They provide a positive summer learning opportunity to compete, improve swim strokes, endurance and times. We have amazing coaches, teams and families that are committed to volunteering and cheering for all athletes.

We hold four meets per year between our teams. Parents and volunteers are strongly encouraged to participate in each of our meets as timers and deck assistants. Remember, our young athletes need your help to learn what it means to be part of a team and compete!

This program is a recreational introduction to swimming as a competitive sport. The prerequisite for swim team is being able to continuously swim two lengths of the pool. We will focus on building endurance through interval training and refining technique for all four competitive strokes. Practices are held daily and four swim meets are scheduled Saturday mornings throughout the summer. Swimmers are responsible for purchasing their own swimsuit. Each participant will receive a team swim cap and goggles, plus one additional giveaway swim team item for the season. There will be no swim team July 3-7.
