The University Park Police Department (UPPD) is focused on upholding the Constitution of the United States by understanding our duty to carry out our Social Contract with all People by providing Fair Access, Public Trust, Safety and Security, and Teamwork and Objectivity to those we serve with honor.

The University Park Police Department continues to work toward meeting the public safety needs of our community. Much has been made of the "new" community policing philosophy in recent years, but the fact is, historically the UPPD has always practiced community policing as evidenced by tremendous resident support.

For years, every February UPPD has provided residents with a recap on recent crime activity in University Park. University Park remains a very safe place to live and work. The City’s most reported crime in 2022 was Burglary of Motor Vehicles. Many of the 171 victims admitted the items stolen were left in plain sight. Moreover, much of the time, victims acknowledged their vehicles were left unlocked, making wallets, purses, computer laptops and jewelry easy and quick to obtain. UPPD is recognized as a Gold Standard agency by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). There are only about 670 police agencies in the U.S. that have achieved CALEA accreditation. The process requires continued compliance with over 480 standards of law enforcement professionalism.

On March 17, 2023, the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) will be conducting an electronic assessment of the University Park Police Department to ensure we meet the highest standards in public safety.
