4worldlovers: On Sunday, April 16 at noon and at 2 p.m., the community is invited to attend two events to celebrate the Texas Historic Tree Coalition's recognition of the West Dallas Gateway Pecan Tree.

First, at noon at the Lake Cliff Park as part of the Oak Cliff Earth Day festivities, the Coaltion's proclamation will be read.

Then at 2 p.m., the commemorative plaque will be dedicated at the tree near the southeast corner of Beckley and Commerce.

On Thursday, March 23 from 5 to 7 p.m., the community is invited to attend a groundbreaking event at the construction site of the new Trinity Portland Pump Station. This important project will help protect people and property from flooding.

Meet staff from Dallas Water Utilities and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, learn about the project and enjoy free food (while supplies last) provided by the City of Dallas. We hope to see you there.

On street parking on Mexicana Road is extremely limited, so neighbors are invited to walk or ride bikes to the event.

Original: Staff from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Dallas Water Utilities will present the design board and detailed schedules of construction activities for the new Charlie Pump Station, a flood control project. The new station will be located near the northeast quadrant of Jefferson Boulevard and Colorado Boulevard, adjacent to the levee.

The community meeting will be held at nearby Eloise Lundy Recreation Center (1228 Revered CBT Smith Street) on Thursday, March 9, 2023, from 6 to 7 p.m.

The Trinity Portland Pump Station, located along the West Levee and Mexicana Drive, is a new stormwater pump station that will protect the neighborhoods from flooding during certain rainfall events by efficiently moving waters through the Eagle Ford Sump System over the West Levee and to the Trinity River.
